2013 Adidas Explosion Camp

The 2013 Adidas Explosion Camp didn’t have as many participants as the 2012 Camp, but Coach Eric “Cowboy” Robinson brought the “explosiveness” that’s been a staple of his workouts. The skills and drills part of the camp is worth the price of admissions alone. I drop in on the 2nd day of the camp to check out the talent on hand. The day started off with intense ball-handing and shooting drills that you won’t find at any other camps. Coach Robinson focuses on technique and form while keeping a level of intensity that matches game play. The second part of day allocated to 5-on-5 game play.

2013 Adidas Explosion Camp Standouts

Alondras “Pug” Strong – Strong is a natural point guard with a high basketball IQ. He made all the right plays and made his teammates better. Alondras was always under control with the ball and got where ever he wanted to on the floor with ease.

Camren Taylor – Taylor is a strong  6’2″ athletic  guard, who used his frame and quick first-step to attack the rim. He was able to score or get fouled. He got the win for his team by knocking down free throws in the late minutes of the game.

Lamarrius Cornes – Cornes is a tremendous talent standing about 6’6″ with a great wing span. He used his length to control the boards on Sunday. He ran the floor well for his size. The only thing that slowed Cornes down was a minor injury to his back.

Leland Kirkendoll – Kirkendoll dribbling skills are on point and he has a nice stroke on his jump shot. Leland knows when to be a floor general and when to step up and knock down the big shot.

Nathan Payne – Payne is very strong guard with a great skill set. He was fast in the open court and finished at the rim through contact. The camp had many good guards and Nathan was right there at the top with them.
