MICHIGAN HAS TOO MANY WEAPONS – The Michigan Mustangs defeated New Heights New York City 84 to 71 in the Adidas Super 64 2012 17u Invitational Championship Game on Sunday and there were plenty of College Coaches on hand to see it. Frederick Lemond Edwards had 22 points on 9 -12 shooting and went 2-3 at the free throw line, yet he was third in line for the tournament MVP and the other two players were on his team. Unranked Jalen Hayes a 6′ 7″ forward being recruited by Eastern Michigan had 23 points on 10 -15 shooting and went 3-4 at the free throw line, but add to that 4 rebounds, 1 assists and 3 blocked shots and he was number two in line on Michigan. The stat line clearly belonged to Michigan Recruit Derrick Walton, 6’0″ Point Guard who can do many things and had the right kind of players to compliment him. Derrick had 16 points on 5-12 shooting, he went 6-8 from the free throw line. Add to that 7 rebounds, 13 assists and 1 turn over. The decision was easy.

For New Heights New York City Jordan Washington had 14 points and 11 rebounds a double double and his team mate Jalen Jenkings added a double double of his own with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Add to that 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot. Joshua James helped out with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists but it just wasn’t enough as Michigan had too many weapons on this day.
