High school sports: Players of the Week for May 1

Antonio Bennett
School:?Clearview; Sport:?Baseball
Year: Sophomore. Position: Pitcher, infielder.
On the field: Clearviews sophomore star had a fantastic week, going 12-17 for a .706 batting average. On those 12 hits, four were for extrabases, with three of those being triples. Bennett drove in 10 and crossed the plate himself 8 times. He also swiped six bags. All of this happened while helping the Clippers go 2-1 on the week.
Caitlen Lonabarger
School:?Edison; Sport:?Track
Year: Sophomore. Events: Hurdles, relays.
On the track: At the Huron Invitational on April 26, guided Edison to its second-straight invite win. Lonabarger won in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.52 breaking a meet record of 15.70 that was set in 1994. She also placed first in the 300 hurdles (46.55) and was the anchor in the winning 4×400 that finished with a time of 4:13.40. Lonabarger earned 30 out of Edisons 93 total, resulting in her being named the meet MVP.
Ian Hoerig
School:?Vermilion; Sport:?Track
Year: Senior. Events: Sprints, relays.
On the field: Won the 400 meter dash in the dual against Midview (55.5) on April 23 and at the Brookside Invitational(54.2) on April 25. Also at the Brookside Invitational, in which the Sailors won, was the lead leg of the victorious 4×400 (3:41.8) and 4×200 (1:36.5).
Anna Edwards
School:?Avon; Sport:?Softball
Year: Junior. Position: Pitcher/1st Base.
On the field: Went 11-for-24 (.458) at the plate with two doubles, two triples and seven RBI. In the circle she went 2-0, pitching 15 innings, striking out 20 and allowing four earned runs.
