Girls basketball

St. Vincent-St. Mary 59,
Cleveland East Tech 47

The Fighting Irish stayed undefeated while also handing the Scarabs (6-1) their first loss in front of a home crowd.

The Irish (8-0) trailed 28-24 at halftime, but strong 3-point shooting in the fourth quarter led them on a 19-8 run that pushed them over the top.

Senior forward Jordan Korinek notched her eighth double-double in as many games for the Irish with 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Shannon Jack, a senior guard, added 20 points for the Irish.

The Scarabs were led by Shantell Bostick’s 16 points and 10 from Morgan Daniel.

Ravenna 60, Rootstown 45

Taylor Geib posted a great all-around effort, totaling 15 points, eight rebounds and six blocks in a home victory for the Ravens.

Geib was complemented by 13 points from Deja Sanders and 11 points and seven assists from JaLynn Starks.

The Rovers (4-3, 2-2 PTC-Metro) were led by senior forward Casey Miracle. She led Ravenna in both points (14) and rebounds (nine).

GlenOak 45, Norton 38

The Golden Eagles took control of the game in the first quarter by getting out to an early 18-7 lead.

Davina Shelton led the Eagles (6-2) with 11 points.

Junior Hannah Bergstrom and sophomore Alyssa Murawski led the Panthers (5-4) with 10 points each.

Mogadore 48, Field 41

The Golden Eagles won the game for themselves in the first quarter by getting out to an early 18-7 lead.

Davina Shelton led the Eagles (6-2) with 11 points.

Junior Hannah Bergstrom and sophomore Alyssa Murawski led the Panthers (5-4) with 10 points each.

Jackson 38

The Vikings remained undefeated at 7-0, 5-0 with a win over their Suburban League rival at home.

Kelsey Lensman led the Vikings with 20 points.

Julie Worley added 15 points and six rebounds to the Vikings efforts.

Boys basketball

Kenmore 52, Dalton 46

The two teams went back and forth all night but a strong third quarter gave the host Cardinals (2-4) a large enough lead to hold off a fourth-quarter comeback attempt and hand the Bulldogs their first loss of the season.

Senior forward Oshay Vinson led Kenmore with 27 points. He was hot from beyond the arc, sinking three 3-pointers.

Senior guard Todd Burton added 12.

Adam Metzger led the Bulldogs (5-1), scoring 14 points.

Buchtel 89, Fairless 49

The Griffins had four players score in double figures as they cruised to a victory in a game played at Walsh University.

Eric Rucker and LaShawn Johnson led the Griffins with 15 points each. Johnson made four 3-pointers.

Tre Smith and Jared Puryear added 12 and 10 points, respectively, for Buchtel.

The Falcons were led by 17 points from Austin Weyandt.

Streetsboro 40, Aurora 37

The host Rockets were held to just four points in the fourth quarter but still managed to escape with a win and remain undefeated.

Senior forward Paul Jenkins accounted for over half of the points for the Rockets (6-0), scoring 21.

Senior guard Paul Kollat led the Greenmen with 16 points.

Archbishop Hoban 56,
Perry 42

Senior guard Christian Waite and sophomore forward Anthony Christian led the Knights to a victory at the Alliance Winter Classic.

Waite scored 18 and Christian added 16 as the Knights improved to 4-3.

The Panthers (2-3) were led by 12 points from Wyatt Vega and 10 from Cole Piatko.

Lake Center Christian 55

Austin Hill led the Knights at the Hoop With a Heart Classic at Walsh University, knocking down eight 3-pointers en route to a 31-point performance.

Michael Peterson led the Tigers with 19 points. Scott Peterson added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
