Boys Basketball

Lincoln-Way Central 52, Clark 34: Alex Parks racked up 16 points to pace host Lincoln-Way Central (5-2). Brad Bass added 14 points for the Knights and Kevin Mampe scored 10.

Morris 58, Yorkville 55: Austin Patterson sank six three-pointers and finished with 25 points to lead Morris (5-1, 2-0) in the Northern Illinois Big 12 East. Tanner Sampson added 12 points for the Redskins.

Naperville North 59, Plainfield South 57: Calvin Brooks and Corey Evers each put in 13 points for host Plainfield South (4-4).

Moline 66, Joliet Central 51: Jonah Coble (15 points) and Antonio Dyson (11 points, 8 rebounds) were the main contributors for visiting Joliet Central (6-2).

Midwest Showdown

Plainfield East 60, Fort Zumwalt North (Mo.): Aaron Jordan totaled 21 points and Nick Novak chipped in 17 to guide Plainfield East (6-1) in Florissant, Mo.

Girls Basketball

Seneca 42, Newark 39: Mallory Misener and Jacey Lamboley contributed 10 points each for visiting Seneca (7-2). Anna Baker tacked on seven points and seven rebounds for the Irish.

Benet/Naperville North Tournament

Providence 47, Hinsdale South 41: Alyssa Jurges chalked up 16 points for Providence (10-2). Mary Fashingbauer added eight points and 10 rebounds for the Celtics.

Iroquois West Tournament

Herscher 50, Gardner-South Wilmington 39: Taylor Speed scored 11 points and Breann Fisher added nine for Gardner-South Wilmington (3-6).

Oak Lawn Tournament

Sandburg 48, Romeoville 16: Alexis Marin scored a team-high seven points for Romeoville (4-4).


Hoffman Estates Invitational: Lincoln-Way Central produced six individual champions and totaled 271 points in besting Libertyville (243) for the team title. Vinnie Piunti (106 pounds), Ian Meagher (120), Joey Nelson (132), Bryce Gorman (170), Sean Kelly (195) and Bryan Ditchman (285) won their respective weight classes for the Knights. Elijah Bavaro (138) secured top honors for Bolingbrook (109), which finished seventh. Plainfield North (73) was ninth thanks in part to Grant Smiley, the runner-up at 132.

Pontiac Invitational: First-place winners Austin Poch (106), Nico Del Toro (113) and Cory Winchell (126) boosted Joliet West (238) to the championship of the 13-team event. Joliet Central (145) came in fourth, the Steelmen led by Lawrence Trevino, who was second at 220 pounds.

Reaper Classic: Miguel Silva (106) won the Most Outstanding Wrestler award in leading Plainfield South (219) to the championship. Derek Biliskov (170) and Danny Saracco (182) also garnered first-place medals for the Cougars, whose closest pursuers were host Plano (174) and Plainfield East (163.50). Peotone’s Zach Krause (120) and Coal City’s Casey Brown (132) also garnered championships.

Lockport duals: Vincent Dietz (160), Tyler Johnson (195) and Chris Murino (220) garnered two pins each as Lockport topped Lyons 40-29 and Hubbard 60-15. The Porters also lost to Marist 34-26.

Minooka duals: Carson Oughton (160) won by decision and Chris Hiscock (170) added a pin as Minooka defeated Lincoln-Way East by criteria after both teams accumulated 37 points. The Indians also lost to Edwardsville 38-28. Brendan Gaynor (132) and Nick Allegretti (heavyweight) won three times each for Lincoln-Way East, which topped Providence 47-17 and lost to Edwardsville 55-18.

Neuqua Valley quadrangular: Kyle Ruettiger (126), Noah Keefe (132) and Amier Khamis (138) each won three times in helping Lincoln-Way West defeat West Aurora 33-26, Lake Park 38-29 and Neuqua Valley 59-14. Kyle Rodriguez (145) and Javier Montalvo (170) also had three victories apiece for the Warriors.

St. Rita quadrangular: Jared Ellingwood (126) posted three victories – two by major decision – in leading Plainfield Central (8-3) over Crystale Lake South 59-18, Harlem 44-24 and St. Rita 34-29.
