Girls Volleyball

Elk Grove Invitational: Carleigh Barringer had nine kills and 20 digs to spearhead De La Salle (15-6), which lost to Crystal Lake South 25-17, 25-22 in the championship. Julianna Townsend chalked up 17 digs and Natalie Arredia added 16 assists for the Meteors, who went 4-1 in the round-robin tournament.

Reed-Custer Invitational: Kasey Nolan distributed 53 assists on the day to spearhead Tinley Park, which took third after losing to Morris 25-21, 25-15. Lindsay Lannen chipped in 32 kills for the Titans, who went 2-2-1 in the 16-team tournament.

Manteno Invitational: Illiana Christian (12-11) defeated Coal City 25-21, 25-17 in the third-place match. Sydnee Van Beek was among the standouts for the Vikings, contributing 52 kills, 20 blocks and 13 digs over five matches. Hannah Wegner added 101 assists for Illiana, which also received 28 kills from Jamie Petrarca and 21 digs from Rachel Herrera.

Boys Soccer

Lincoln-Way Central 1, Homewood-Flossmoor 0: Adrian Prado scored on an assist from Ethan Bennett to propel visiting Lincoln-Way Central (4-5-4) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. J.T. Schmitt recorded the shutout.

Thornton co-op 4, Joliet West 0: Emmanuel Barjebo scored twice and Eduardo Vargas posted the shutout in leading visiting Thornton co-op (10-1) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.

Chicago Christian 7, St. Edward 1: Getenet Timmermans contributed four goals and three assists for Chicago Christian (6-6-3, 3-3) in the Suburban Christian match at Trinity Christian.

Lincoln-Way West 3, Joliet Central 1: Ian McGrath scored twice and Kip Pavlovich once for visiting Lincoln-Way West (8-3-3) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.

Stagg 5, Andrew 2: Roberto Torres recorded a goal and an assist in showing the way for host Stagg (7-2) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.

St. Rita 2, St. Patrick 1: Nick Spallina’s two goals sparked host St. Rita (4-7-1).

Argo 1, Bloom 1: Juan Elizalde’s goal midway through the second half enabled visiting Bloom (10-4-2) to earn a draw. Matthew Warciak scored for Argo (3-6-1).

Reavis 5, Oak Lawn 0: Slawomir Chrobak netted a pair of goals to spur host Reavis (9-4, 4-2) in the South Suburban Red.

Lemont 2, Eisenhower 1: John Bermele’s goal with nine minutes remaining in regulation boosted visiting Lemont (6-6-2, 4-2) in the South Suburban crossover. Eric Whatley also scored for the Indians.

Sandburg 2, Bradley 1: Goals by Abe Ziad and Przemyslaw Tylka keyed host Sandburg (7-4) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.

Bremen 4, De La Salle 2: Christian Lagunas provided two goals for visiting Bremen (9-2-1).

Marist 3, Notre Dame 0: A.J. Olivieri’s two goals loomed large for visiting Marist (9-4, 4-0) in the East Suburban Catholic. Sam Gainer made six saves in notching his first shutout.

Public League/Catholic League Showdown

Kelly 1, Brother Rice 1: Edward Velez provided a first-half goal for Brother Rice at Solorio.

Young 2, St. Laurence 0: Ulises Olivares was among the goal scorers for Young (8-6). St. Laurence slipped to 5-6-1.

Boys Golf

Sterling Invitational: Medalist Mickey Brick registered a 71 in directing Providence (302) to the team crown. Geneseo (323) was second and Moline (326) third in the 15-team tournament.

Girls Golf

Naperville North Invitational: Homewood-Flossmoor’s Kendall Paris shot an 81 in finishing eighth at Naperbrook in Plainfield. Providence (362) was the top area team, placing seventh behind the efforts of Alyssa Newling (83) and Annie Corso (90).

Lady Dragon Classic: Marist (408) finished sixth out of 15 teams in Pekin. Ashley Kay (95) was the top individual for the RedHawks, placing 18th.

Girls Tennis

Chicago Christian 3, Stagg 2: Raquel Hamstra and Grace Furlong prevailed at No. 1 doubles for host Chicago Christian. Stagg received a win from Jillian Atkenson at No. 2 singles.

Lincoln-Way North Invitational: Marian Catholic teammates Gaby Rosales (No. 1) and Giselle Beebe (No. 2) won singles championships in leading the Spartans (17) to a fourth-place finish in the 14-team tournament won by Fenwick (28). Sandburg (18) was third thanks to third-place performances from Priya Sharma and Allia Abunaim at No. 1 doubles and the No. 2 doubles team of Nisha Riley and Jackie Makdah. Providence (15) was fifth as sisters Kelly and Maggie Ruane took second at No. 1 doubles.

Boys Cross Country

Flying Hawk Invitational: Lincoln-Way Central (46 points) topped runner-up Jacobs (72) for first place in the 11-team meet hosted by Bartlett. The champion Knights were led by Chris Kaminski (15 minutes, 40 seconds), who was third in the 3-mile race. His teammate, Tommy Kolacki (15:48) came in sixth.

Herscher Invitational: Nathan Swanson (16:42.6) was third in the 3-mile race as Beecher (44) captured top honors in the 10-team field. Josh Nehmer (17:52.8) and Mitch Darabaris (17:56.9) were ninth and 10th, respectively, for the Bobcats.

Girls Cross Country

Herscher Invitational: Taylor Adams (21:04.2) finished 16th in the 3-mile contest to lead Beecher (119), which was sixth in the seven-team event. Julianna Salmen (21:23.5) was 18th for the Ladycats.

Girls Swimming

Trojan Challenge: Amanda Moran won the 100-yard backstroke (58.69 seconds) in helping Lockport (446) finished second behind host Downers Grove North (463) in the six-team meet. Moran also was part of the winning foursome in the 200 medley relay (1 minute, 56.39 seconds). Other members of the group were Carly Breitbarth, Sharlene Solis and Lauren Estes.
