Lakeview Christian guard scores 71 points but team loses

That honor went to Lions junior star Anders Broman, who finished with 71 points. But Stone and the Dutchmen had the last laugh, rallying from a one-point deficit late to post a 114-110 victory.

Stone finished with 39 points, tying Mark Olberding’s single-game school record. Isaac Sawyer finished with 30 points. Ryan Elfering had 18.

Melrose coach Ryan Dusha said the 114 points is also believed to be a single-game school record.

The two teams used a shot clock, but Dusha said that didn’t have an impact on the high score.

“This was just one of the most exciting games anybody could experience,” said Dusha, whose team is now 18-6 overall. “It was back and forth all the way. It was just an absolute blast to be a part of.”

Broman is averaging 45 points per game. But the 71 points Saturday was still 19 points shy of a single-game state scoring record.
