CLEVELAND, Ohio – We’re entering the second day of one of the coldest stretches of weather in recent history for Northeast Ohio. Hopefully you’re staying warm, and if you’re inside, we’ve got another full day of high school sports coverage to keep you busy.
Starting this week we will be posting a daily rundown previewing the day’s coverage plans.
Look for the posts every Monday through Saturday. Each post will also have links to the previous day’s coverage.
The posts – called Morning Announcements – will give high school sports fans a look at what will be posted that day and night at cleveland.com/hssports in all sports.
Let’s get started.

More updates on game postponements for Northeast Ohio athletics
There won’t be much high school sports action for at least another day. To keep track of what games are now off the schedule, reporter Nubyjas Wilborn is compiling a list of Monday and Tuesday postponements, along with makeup dates when available. Watch for a new post with the most updated info to go online today.
It’s a big day of girls basketball coverage in our area. Reporters Stephanie Kuzydym and Mark Kern will be revealing this week’s Top 25 poll, and there’s plenty to pay attention to as the teams get set for a week of games. A video will accompany the release of the rankings.
Along with the poll, Kuzydym and Kern will be revealing their decisions behind the poll in their weekly talking points about the rankings.
After a loaded weekend of high school boys basketball, we’ll be revealing the video of candidates for this week’s top play on the court. Reporter Lexi Pluym will take you through the highlights.
Also, reporter Bill Landis will be encouraging you to send in questions for our boys basketball podcast, which is taped on Wednesday.
It should be another light day for box scores with all of the postponements, but if any scores do come in, we’ll have them up on our site.
Question of the day
Reporter Bill Landis will be asking a weather-related question in the High School Sports Question of the Day.
