Oak Hill finishes the season at the top of boys Super 25

It’s hard to argue with 44-0. The Warriors top the final Super 25 of the season after setting a school record for wins, including victories against four teams in the final Super 25 rankings, and a fifth, Grace Prep (Arlington, Texas), which won a state title and spent time in the Super 25.

This is the seventh time the Warriors are No. 1 in the final rankings. The Warriors also finished No. 1 in 1994, ’99, 2001, ’04 and ’05 and ’07.

“The biggest difference this year is we had three guards who were outstanding all year in Tyler Lewis, D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera and Jordan Adams,” Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said. “We were also really deep, with eight or nine players playing every game. But our guards made us play with the chemistry that we haven’t had the last couple of years.”

Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) finished No. 2 in the rankings after winning the National High School Invitational in North Bethesda, Md., over the weekend. Oak Hill opted not to play in the tournament.

Like Oak Hill, Findlay Prep (32-1) also had big wins, including five against teams in the final Super 25. But the Pilots’ lone loss, to La Lumiere (La Porte, Ind.), a team Oak Hill beat, made a difference. Findlay and Oak Hill did not meet this season.

“The best way I can describe my feeling is, if Alabama wouldn’t have had another shot at LSU (in football), how Nick Saban would have felt, that’s probably how I feel,” said Findlay Prep coach Mike Peck.
