Paschall, 38, whose team won the state Class AA Federation title last season, said earlier this season that he had been undergoing chemotherapy for skin cancer. He also had been diagnosed with congestive heart failure 13 months ago.

Several of his players at Nazareth had followed him from St. Michael’s Academy in New York City when that school closed in 2010.

After meeting with the team’s players, the school said it had decided to play its next game, against Bishop Ford (Brooklyn) on Thursday, and against rival Christ the King (Queens) on Saturday. Bishop Ford athletics director Eileen Egan said the game would be canceled, according to the New York Daily News, however.

Paschall had also coached a very successful girls AAU program, Exodus, for more than a decade.
