Should the individual state wrestling tournament shed divisions? High School …

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The first two weeks of the high school wrestling season have been highlighted by tournaments.

The Solon Comet Classic, Avon Lake Knights of Columbus Tournament, North Coast Classic and the Walsh Ironman are all great events that wrestling fans look forward to each year.

A large part of their appeal is that all wrestlers and teams compete in one competition, unlike the state tournament where qualifiers are split up by division.

So, today’s High School Sports Question of the Day is this: Should the individual state wrestling tournament shed divisions?

The introduction of the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s state team tournament last season caused some to question the need for a team race at the individual state tournament. Without a team race, what’s the reason for splitting wrestlers into divisions? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
