Once again, a winter storm approaching North Carolina is threatening the high school sports schedule.

A dusting of snow is possible in central North Carolina on Monday, but a more significant storm is expected to move into the area on Tuesday and could last through Thursday.

Most of the HighSchoolOT.com coverage area is under a winter storm watch, and WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze says that will likely be upgraded to a winter storm warning.

Snow, sleet and freezing rain can be expected in the coverage area, and that will likely cause some travel and power disruptions, which could lead to school closings and sports schedule changes.

HighSchoolOT.com is monitoring schedule changes due to the weather. To report a schedule change, send an e-mail to highschoolot@wral.com or call (919) 821-8660 and leave a message.
