2011 CBL (NDBL 8-9 Div.) Champs!

Congratulations to Jarvis Morgan, Raheem Morris, Naba Echols, KJ Lawson, Paris London, Matthew Palmer, Camren Taylor, Eric McGill, and Coach Kransfer!

The Championship Game

The VOLS jumped out with 7 quick points behind the shooting of AJ Jones (VOLS). He came out blazing with 2 quick baskets and buried a 3-ball over Naba Echols (Tigers). I thought this would be a good match up to watch the rest of the game, but Jones couldn’t keep the magic going and finished the game with 9 points.

Echols controlled the flow of the game especially on defense by putting his players in position to trap the VOLS guards and forcing Khalil Spenser (VOLS) to handle the ball most of the second half. Echols didn’t get the 3-ball going as we are accustomed to seeing from him, but he managed to get to the charity line frequently. He finished with 16 points.

Spenser played like a man on a mission, you can tell he wanted to win this game. In the first half he crashed the boards and dominated the paint. Unfortunately he spent most of the second half at the top of the key handling the ball and launching a couple of threes. Spenser finished the game with 17 points.

Marlon Hunter (VOLS) dropped 22 points on the Tigers but it wasn’t enough to pull out the win.

I was really impressed with KJ Lawson (Tigers). We all know Lawson can score the ball and he did with 24 points to lead all scorers. I was mainly impressed how he trusted his teammates. He created several easy buckets for his teammates, either on the break or penetrating and dishing.

Eric McGill (Tigers) hit some big threes in key moments in the game and finished with 14 points. Camren Taylor (Tigers) finished the game with 8 points.
