High school sports fans get weekend filled with drama (What’s new in preps)

Prep sports did not fail to produce this past weekend in the drama department.

In football, the St. Paul’s-Mandeville rivalry added an unusual chapter to its history when two referees were arrested during the third quarter of their District 6-5A tilt in Covington. St. Paul’s eventually won the game to extend its district winning streak to 32 games.

Catholic League play began, and NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune has videos from the St. Augustine-Brother Martin and Rummel-Shaw games. Holy Cross defeated Jesuit on a last-second field goal. In volleyball, Country Day topped Mandeville to win the Maggie Millet Invitational Championship.

In swimming, Jesuit and Vandebilt Catholic picked up victories at the Breast Cancer Invitational.
