High School Sports: Lalley to step down as Pequnanock Athletic Director

‘The most enjoyable part is definitely watching the kids compete and grow. Just watching any activity whether it’s hockey or softball watching those kids compete on the field day in and day out and the time and effort that they put into it.’

PEQUANNOCK – After a decade and a half of service to the Pequannock community Pat Lalley is stepping down as Athletic Director of Pequannock Township High School.

“The 15 years here they really went by fast. Actually it’s the longest I’ve ever been in one place,” said Lalley. “I’ve got 33 years in public education and it’s time to move on to start a second career.”

After starting at Pequannock in 1997 Lalley took the responsibility of his first AD job extremely seriously boasting a program that has been not only consistent on the field, but in the classroom as well.

“I came in ’97 and this was my first Athletic Director’s job and it worked out extremely well,” said Lalley. “It ended up being a real good fit definitely for myself and I hope everyone involved.”

He went on to note that the most enjoyable part of working in Pequannock has been the ability to see the student-athletes grow up and mature both on and off the athletic fields.

“The most enjoyable part is definitely watching the kids compete and grow,” he said. “Just watching any activity whether it’s hockey or softball watching those kids compete on the field day in and day out and the time and effort that they put into it.”

For Lalley his proudest achievement while at Pequannock is the success that the program has developed over the past 15 years in sports as a whole not just one specific one.
