Boys Basketball

Lincoln-Way West 56, Thornridge 53: Hayden Witt scored 21 points to boost visiting Lincoln-Way West (3-1) in the SouthWest Suburban Red opener for both teams. Jon Marotta added 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Warriors. Carly Henry paced Thornridge (1-5) with 14 points. Darrion Robinson (8 rebounds) and Victor Trout tacked on 13 points apiece for the Falcons.

Springfield Shootout

Springfield 55, Rich South 42: Denzel Kimbrough chalked up 18 points for Rich South (4-2) at the Prairie Capital Convention Center.

Girls Basketball

Homewood-Flossmoor 99, Lockport 37: Nadia Green scored 12 points to pace a balanced attack for host Homewood-Flossmoor (4-0, 1-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. The Vikings also received 10 points apiece from Faith Suggs (5 rebounds), Destiny Harris and Tosin Mabodu.

Beecher 53, Wilmington 31: Taylor Johnson totaled 16 points, 11 rebounds and five steals for host Beecher (5-3). Danielle Snuckel added 12 points for the Bobcats.

Regina 51, Queen of Peace 26: Allie Hermann tossed in 11 points to pace visiting Queen of Peace (0-8, 0-1) in the GCAC Red.

Crete-Monee Shootout

Crete-Monee 62, Hillcrest 46: Alexia DeBose registered 23 points and Lindzy Cox netted 13 to propel Crete-Monee (6-1). Tanzania Sherrill led Hillcrest (4-3) with 11 points.

Geneva 69, Bloom 55: Danielle King racked up 23 points, nine rebounds and nine assists to lead Bloom (2-5).

Kenwood 67, Tinley Park 61: Caitlin Sudduth put in 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Tinley Park (5-4). Sam Alberto added 16 points for the Titans.

John Marshall Showcase

Marian Catholic 59, Bloomington (Ind.) South 33: Teniya Page finished with 16 points and Ashton Millender scored 12 to steer Marian Catholic (4-1) in Indianapolis.

Boys Bowling

Vernon Hills Invitational: Medalist Nick Guziak (1,319) keyed Andrew (6,304) to the team crown at Brunswick Zone Hawthorn in Vernon Hills. Brad Kawulia (1,286) added a fourth-place finish for the Thunderbolts and Joe Rymsza (1,266) was fifth. Brother Rice (5,376) was 14th and Reavis (5,279) 15th in the 23-team event.

Girls Bowling

Fremd Invitational: Evergreen Park (3,989) was 11th in the 20-team meet at Arlington Lanes in Arlington Heights. The Mustangs were led by Sarah Klawitter (565), who finished 18th.

Palatine Invitational: Runner-up Marissa Soverino (1,231) helped Lockport (5,893) garner first place at Brunswick Zone in Lake Zurich. Nicole Troha (1,219) contributed a fourth-place finish for the Porters, one spot ahead of teammate Ashley Hostert (1,191).


Oswego East Invitational: Heavyweight Nick Allegretti won all five of his matches as Lincoln-Way East bested Bloom 46-25, Rich Central 68-9, Kennedy 69-12 and Oswego 37-33. The Griffins’ only loss was a 41-27 decision to Glenbard East.

Plainfield Central quadrangular: Ian Meagher (120), Joey Nelson (132) and Bryce Gorman (170) each won three times in helping Lincoln-Way Central (8-1) defeat Hinsdale Central 38-28, Downers Grove South 64-6 and Plainfield Central 45-17.

Kaneland 49, Lemont 18: Jim Brennan (145) notched a pin for host Lemont. Egan Beiga (126) and Jake Kirkman (138) added victories by decision for the Indians.

Girls Gymnastics

Rolling Meadows Invitational: Rosie Jordan was fifth on the uneven bars (8.800) for Lincoln-Way co-op (66.300), which finished seventh.

Men’s Basketball

St. Xavier 90, Judson 67: Brad Karp (13 points, 19 rebounds) and Michael Simpson (22 points, 11 assists) posted double-doubles for host St. Xavier (8-2, 2-1) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Jack Krieger added 15 points for the Cougars and Josh Mawhorr had 14.

South Suburban 83, Parkland 71: Antonio Levy had 18 points and Anthony Strickland netted 17 for visiting South Suburban (10-2). Marius Hopkins added 15 points, Korbon McClain (9 rebounds) scored 14 and Jalen Brown (7 rebounds) had 13.

Trinity International 104, Trinity Christian 98 (2 OTs): Joe Hehir scored 20 points to pace visiting Trinity Christian (3-9, 1-2) in the CCAC. Jake VanDenBerg added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Trolls.

Women’s Basketball

St. Xavier 75, Judson 65: Morgan Stuut scored 20 points and grabbed 20 rebounds to power host St. Xavier (8-3, 3-1) in the CCAC. Suzie Broski added 19 points for the Cougars.

Trinity Christian 73, Trinity International 45: Caitlin Cody had 22 points and eight rebounds to lead visiting Trinity Christian (3-8, 1-2) in the CCAC. Brooke Bambrick tacked on 17 points and six rebounds.
