Ram Gridiron Challenge benefits high school football team, and other Sports Notes

FOOTBALL: The Ram Gridiron Challenge is coming to Bangor John Glenn to help raise funds for the Bobcats football program. Members of the community are invited to attend the event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at John Glenn High School, 3201 Kiesel Road, on Saturday, Oct. 19. Thelen Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram is donatiing $20 to the John Glenn football program for every test drive that is taken during the event. All participants will be entered into a national drawing to win $45,000 toward a Chrysler Group vehicle.

WRESTLING: Registration is planned for the Bay County Roadrunners youth wrestling program. Wrestlers ages 5-14 can sign up Oct. 22, Oct. 24 and Oct. 28 at Mackensen Elementary School from 6-8 p.m. For more information visit www.baycountyroadrunnerwrestling.com

BASKETBALL: Bangor John Glenn is accepting applications for a freshman girls basketball coach. Anyone interested should contact athletic director Troy Lynch at lyncht@bangorschools.org.

BASEBALL: SVSU is hosting a youth baseball hitting clinic on Oct. 20 for ages 5-12. The camp meets from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and costs $28. Register online at www.svsu.edu.

BASKETBALL: The 11th annual Lancer Turkey Classic basketball tournament comes to Northwood University’s Hach Center on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, featuring age group tournaments for boys and girls in each grade from 3rd through 8th. BASKETBALL: Mr. Basketball winner Brad Redford is hosting a
two-day shooting clinic at Vassar High School on Nov. 9-10. Coed
sessions are planned for players in grades 4-8 from 1-3 p.m. each day

BASKETBALL: Bangor Rec is hosting a new girls basketball league,
open to players from Bangor, Essexville and All Saints in grades 1-6 and
meeting six Saturdays from Nov. 9-Dec. 14. Bangor players are asked to
attend an evaluation session Saturday, Oct. 26, with grades 1-2 meeting
at 2 p.m., grades 3-4 meeting at 3 p.m. and grades 5-6 meeting at 4 p.m.
Cost is $40 per player and includes a jersey. Anyone interested in
