Overtime points

• Athens Drive wrestling made the postseason for the first time since 2001 after Person County opted out of its wild-card spot in the 4A dual-team wrestling playoffs. The Jaguars faced Durham’s Riverside High in the first round and lost 57-24, a few days after Athens had beaten Riverside in nonconference action.

• Cary Christian’s boys won the Eastern Plains Independent Conference swimming championships on Tuesday. The Knights had 302 points, clipping Raleigh Grace Christian’s 271.

• Also in the EPIC, the Grace Christian girls (260) were runner-up to host Arendell-Parrott Academy of Kinston (321), while Cary Christian was close behind in third (255). “I’m just really glad how hard the kids were able to work, especially after we … were all essentially grounded after the snow storm this past week,” said Knights coach Stephen Knauss.
